Goal: Assess the community’s knowledge, perceptions, and concerns of what they see, and feel are the largest needs, obstacles, challenges, and successes.
Why: For many years, people were told to keep quiet about the harm being done to them and stories were silenced. Our aim in these interviews and focus groups is to gain insights and wisdom that can provide direction for the community. The cultural resiliency and traditional belief systems that played an important role in historical survival can build awareness and community commitment to reduce the cycle of harm. Your voice matters and can help bring significant positive changes in lives impacted by trauma and abuse. Together we can heal and strengthen, and people can move beyond pain, grief, and shame.
